Genuine MAN raw water pump for the D0836 LE423. Raw water pumps are one of the few engine components worth carrying as a complete spare on a working boat. An impeller kit covers the common failure, but a seized bearing or a cracked body leaves a vessel without cooling and therefore without propulsion, and a complete pump can be swapped alongside in an hour where a rebuild cannot. For boats operating away from support, the calculation usually favours the spare pump. Where budget limits that, the impeller, the seal and the gasket set are the minimum that should be aboard , and not ashore. Fit the spare with the old pump's hoses and clamps checked at the same time, since those age alongside it and rarely get replaced on their own.
