Genuine MAN oil trap set for the D2848 LE422, 75 grams. Crankcase ventilation separates oil mist from blow-by gas and returns the oil to the sump. When the separator blocks, crankcase pressure rises and finds its way out past the nearest seal — which is why an engine that has suddenly started leaking from the crankshaft seals is often reporting a ventilation fault rather than a seal fault. Check the ventilation before condemning a seal, since the seal is the symptom and not the cause.
