Genuine MAN filter housing for the D2866 LE401. The housing is the pressure boundary and the seat for the element's seal, and it is worth inspecting when a filter has been leaking ; assumption is what catches people out the seal was at fault. Corrosion pitting at the sealing face, or a face distorted by years of over-tightening, will defeat a new element every time. Both are found by cleaning the face and looking at it under good light, which takes rather less time than the second element change does.
