Genuine MAN brazed oil suction line. The suction side runs below atmospheric pressure, so a poor joint here draws air rather than leaking oil. Aerated oil compresses, and a bearing fed with it behaves exactly as though the pump were worn. Smoke-testing or pressurising the suction side is the way to find such a leak, since looking for a wet joint will not.
