Genuine MAN crankshaft assembly for the D2866 LE401 and D2866 E, carrying an identification note in MAN's own parts data. That note is there because this engine family ran in several builds whose crankshafts are not freely interchangeable, and the identification marking on the shaft is what settles which build a given part belongs to — worth reading off the old shaft before ordering ; the engine model is not enough alone. Beyond identification the shaft behaves like the rest of the 11.97-litre six's running gear: journal damage traceable to contaminated oil or a failed bearing shell is repaired by grinding to a standard undersize and fitting correspondingly oversized shells, and fatigue cracking from sustained load ends the shaft's life without a repair route. Check the marking, then the journals.
