At 23 mm bore with a 5 mm cord, this genuine MAN fluoroelastomer ring is heavy in section for its diameter. Thick-section rings need real force to compress, so the joint has to be drawn down evenly rather than tightened at one point first. Uneven closing is what nips a heavy ring against the edge of its groove.
