Genuine MAN fuel filter insert for the D2866 LE401. Where an engine has both a prefilter and a main filter, changing them together is the usual practice and changing only one is a reasonable economy in specific circumstances — most obviously where the prefilter has blocked after taking on bad fuel and the main filter downstream has been protected. Cutting the prefilter element open settles whether that is what happened.
