Genuine MAN solenoid switch for the D2866 LE401, D2866 E, D2842 LE443 and D2848 LE422, 607 grams — noticeably lighter than the heat-resistant unit listed alongside it. The solenoid does two jobs at once: it throws the pinion into the ring gear and then closes the main contacts. A solenoid that clicks without cranking has usually done the first and failed at the second. Before condemning it, check the voltage reaching its control terminal, since a poor feed produces the same symptom.
