Genuine MAN-supplied Loctite 589 in a 50 ml bottle, for the D2866 LE401 and D2840 LE301. Loctite's numbering encodes strength and cure characteristics rather than being a catalogue index, which is why the number is quoted in the parts list. Anaerobic products of this kind cure only in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces — which is why they do not set in the bottle, and why they are unsuitable for joints with a visible gap. Apply to clean, dry, oil-free surfaces or they will not cure at all.
