Genuine MAN fuel filter assembly in the unheated specification, for the D2866 LE401. Heated fuel filters exist because diesel begins to form wax crystals as it cools, and those crystals block a filter long before the fuel stops flowing in the tank. A heated filter keeps the fuel above that point; an unheated one does not. Which is correct depends on where the vessel operates rather than on the engine, and it is a specification worth checking against the boat's actual waters rather than inherited from a previous owner.
