About this part
Genuine MAN shim of 1.61 mm. Under each tappet sits a return spring, and a weak spring lets the roller leave the cam at speed. That produces a timing error that varies with engine speed, which no fixed shim thickness will cure. Springs are cheap and are usually renewed as a set during any pump rebuild.
