Genuine MAN sealing frame for the field rheostat on the D2840 LE301 and D2848 LE422. The frame seals an electrical enclosure rather than a fluid joint, and its job in a marine engine room is environmental: keeping salt-laden air and condensation away from contacts that would otherwise corrode. A perished frame produces intermittent electrical faults that are hard to trace and easy to blame on the component inside. Renew it whenever the enclosure is opened rather than refitting a hardened one.
