About the MAN D0836 series

The D0836 is the six-cylinder D08 diesel with 108 × 125 mm bore and stroke and 6.87 litres. In its marine form MAN rated the D 0836 LE 401 at 331 kW (450 hp) at 2,600 rpm for light duty and the LE 402 at 265 kW (360 hp) at 2,400 rpm for medium duty. Both use a Bosch VP44 distributor injection pump with EDC electronic control. Our catalogue lists the LE4xx versions under one entry, D0836 LE4.., and the marine LE301 shares most of its parts with it.

The later versions changed the fuel system. The LE423 and the LE122 to LE124 lists have a high-pressure fuel pump and a common-rail pressure sensor in place of the distributor pump. The LE423 is also a marine engine in our data: it lists tube bundles, a raw water pump, a reversing gearbox and a ship management computer with displays. The LE122 group is radiator-cooled, with visco fans and refrigerant compressors.
