About the MAN D2866 series
The D2866 is MAN's 11.97-litre in-line six: 128 × 155 mm bore and stroke, direct injection, replaceable cylinder liners. MAN sold it for marine propulsion, where the heavy-duty LXE 40 data sheet lists a heat exchanger with fitted sea water pump or keel cooling, and for generating sets, where the LE201 and LE203 use a Bosch in-line pump with GAC electronic control.
Our catalogue splits the designations into separate lists, and they differ more than the shared name suggests. The marine LE401 and the LE402, LE403 and LE405 have heat exchangers, tube bundles and raw water pumps. The LE201 group is radiator-cooled. The LUE and TUE600 lists are built around their injection pumps and governors, the LUE602 and LUE605 add EDC control units, and the E is the only version whose list has no turbocharger unit.
Order by designation and engine number. For the marine LE4.. engines, MAN's repair manual records a change of raw water pump at engine no. 8121 001, from which double pumps were fitted.
